The Energized by Ebony non-profit organization held its second annual wiffleball tounament last weekend and - despite wretched weather that kept crowds down - raised nearly $5,000 to be used in the fight against childhood cancer.
The tourney was held to honor Ebony Ann Fawcett, who died in 2014 after battling Stage 4 Neuroblastoma for many of her nine years of life.
Ebony's mother, Beth Ann Fawcett, organized the tourney and thanked sponsors, players, umpires, volunteers, family and friends, the Decatur Parks and Rec and the Decatur girls' softball league.
To date, Energized by Ebony has handed out more than 1,000 activity bags to local pediatrican oncology patients. Donations are always accepted by contacting Fawcett at 223-0087 or by email at energized-byebony@yahoo.com.
Next year's tourney is scheduled for Sept 16th.
